I'm Jo and
I live in a lovely stone cottage
in a small South Yorkshire
market town.
Why the name Solstice Days? Well
my wedding day was the summer
solstice, hence
the name Solstice Days!
Inspired by the films Yanks (1979) and
The War Bride (2001), where people had
to ‘make do and mend’ by re-using
fabrics to create new items and so
my interest in sewing and
recycling began.
Recycling
isn't rubbish, Upcycling is unique!
Creating Pre-loved, Pretty and Practical
Handmade Items.
I love to create pretty
but practical items
using both new and
reusing fabrics and started off making
patchwork cushion covers
from velvet scraps,
progressing to making an applique cot quilt and
bumper set to celebrate my son's
1st birthday.
Making handmade presents for
family and friends.
I
wanted to learn more, going to
sewing classes to make clothes and curtains but
otherwise I'm self-taught.
The photo's you see are
items I've made from my own
designs. When using 'pdf
patterns', I credit the pattern
designer.
I re-use
fabrics as well as buying
new fabrics, to create one off
individual items. (Halloween outfit
from hubby's old shirt!)
